Is Meridial Legit? What 2,149 Reddit Comments and 566 Live Listings Show

A young man with messy hair sorts a stack of printed pages into piles at a desk in a dim open office at dusk.

Short answer: Yes. Meridial by Invisible is a real AI training contractor marketplace operated by Invisible Technologies Inc., and contributors in the threads we read describe being paid, some on a steady two-week rhythm. The risk sits before the work starts: address or ID verification that fails or stays under review for weeks or months, which blocks access to projects, reported by 45 accounts across 38 threads, 2026. Unanswered support tickets, waits with no work after onboarding, and accounts placed under review before a payout are among the other reports that cleared our evidence bar. 267 of the 272 threads we read are in r/Meridial, the platform's own subreddit.

The short version

  • It is real, and it pays some people. Contributors report being paid regularly and without payment issues: 4 accounts across 3 threads, 2026.
  • Verification is the main bottleneck. Address or ID verification can fail or remain stuck or under review for weeks or months, which blocks or delays access to projects: 45 accounts across 38 threads, 2026.
  • Verification tickets can go unanswered. Tickets or emails about identity, ID or address verification problems went unanswered or were not resolved: 30 accounts across 25 threads, 2026.
  • Being onboarded is not the same as having work. Contributors report little or no work after being onboarded or invited to projects: 10 accounts across 7 threads, 2026.
  • Reviews just before a payout. Contributors describe an account placed under review, deactivated or removed shortly before a payout, with work done before that point unpaid: 7 accounts across 5 threads, 2026.

What Meridial is

Meridial, which people also search as Meridial AI, describes itself as "an expert contractor marketplace powered by Invisible Technologies". Its site footer is Invisible Technologies Inc., and Invisible's own about page says the company was founded in 2015 and reached unicorn status by 2025. Contributors are independent contractors; Meridial's FAQ says you are "not an employee of Meridial or Invisible Technologies". You create a profile, complete a confirmation step, apply to projects, and sign a Statement of Work for each one.

The work is AI training, AI evaluation and data annotation for domain experts: writing, reviewing and grading AI outputs in a subject or a language. Meridial asks for recognised expertise in your field, clear written English and a personal computer with 8GB of RAM and a connection of at least 10 Mbps, and it says it publishes the rate range on each engagement before you commit. Contributors in the threads describe onboarding that can involve Hubstaff time tracking, a Meridial Google Workspace account and Slack or Google Chat, with delays in setup emails or access errors blocking later steps: 3 accounts across 2 threads, 2026.

How we checked

We read 272 Reddit threads containing 2,149 comments from 861 different accounts, dating from January 2026 to November 2026. Every claim below had to be stated by at least two different accounts in two different threads before we would print it, and every negative claim about the company by at least five accounts across three threads, quoted rather than paraphrased. Every claim carries the period its evidence comes from.

We deliberately read in two passes. The first covered Meridial's own subreddit (267 threads). The second covered 5 threads in subreddits Meridial does not moderate, because a company's own forum is not neutral ground.

Where people disagree, we print both sides. Where the evidence is mostly old, we say so instead of presenting it as current. The full method, including what we refuse to print, is on our methodology page.

We also track Meridial roles on our own AI evaluation job board, so the section on what is open right now is our own data rather than anyone's recollection.

What Meridial actually pays, according to Meridial

People quote wildly different numbers in forum threads, and none of them can be checked. So rather than repeat any of it, here is what the company itself publishes. We list Meridial's roles on our job board, and every one carries a rate.

As of 6 November 2026 there are 566 live Meridial listings, which are 546 distinct roles, posted across 67 eligibility regions:

Showing the 15 highest published rates; all 546 roles are on our job board.

The rates above are what Meridial publishes on its own job listings, which our board reads from its public hiring page. They run from $6 to $150 an hour across 566 live listings. The low end is mostly language roles whose rate depends on the contributor's location, which contributors also describe (pay for the same project differs by location: 2 accounts across 2 threads, 2026), and the high end is software engineering and medical specialist work. These are published rates, not what any contributor earns. For how these compare with other platforms' published rates, see our platform rates comparison.

Contributors in the threads report hourly pay of $20 on some projects: 2 accounts across 2 threads, 2026.

About these figures: the rates above are published by Meridial on its own job listings and were read on 6 November 2026. They are advertised ranges, not guarantees, and they are not earnings claims by us. Annotation Academy is an independent certification provider with no affiliation with Meridial or Invisible Technologies, and we earn nothing if you join any platform. See our earnings disclaimer.

How the money actually works, and why it matters

Pay runs on a two-week cycle. Meridial says "Earnings are processed every two weeks to the account details provided in your profile." Contributors describe the same rhythm, one reporting pay "every other Thursday like clockwork": 2 accounts across 2 threads, 2026.

People do get paid. Contributors report being paid regularly and without payment issues: 4 accounts across 3 threads, 2026. Separately, contributors report receiving payment for completed work: 2 accounts across 2 threads, 2026. Contributors report receiving their payments through Wise: 2 accounts across 2 threads, 2026.

Project time is paid; pre-project assessments are not addressed. Meridial says "All time on projects is paid" and that every engagement shows its rate before you commit. Its pages say nothing about whether assessments taken before a project are paid.

The pay complaint that cleared our bar is about accounts under review. Contributors describe an account placed under review, deactivated or removed shortly before a payout, with work done before that point unpaid: 7 accounts across 5 threads, 2026. One wrote: "They literally just put my account under review yesterday which was the day before payday" (r/Meridial). We could not see the other side of these cases. Meridial does not publish its contractor terms on its site, so we could not check what they say about pay when an account is under review.

What else people consistently report

Verification can stall for weeks or months. Address or ID verification can fail or remain stuck or under review, which blocks or delays access to projects: 45 accounts across 38 threads, 2026. One wrote: "my address verification is still under review and I can't do anything" (r/remotework). Outcomes vary: some contributors report quick approval and others a stall or rejection: 2 accounts across 2 threads, 2026. Some report that a failed verification was eventually resolved, by itself or after several weeks: 2 accounts across 2 threads, 2026.

Support replies are reported as slow or automated. Contributors report support tickets or emails that went unanswered or received only slow, automated or generic replies: 23 accounts across 20 threads, 2026. One wrote: "I have 4 tickets open for more than 2 weeks and no answer to them relating onboarding, bugs, and assessments." (r/AIJobs) The pattern is strongest for verification problems: 30 accounts across 25 threads, 2026. It is not universal; one contributor reports an issue resolved within a day after the in-app chatbot opened a ticket: 2 accounts across 2 threads, 2026.

Work is uneven after onboarding. Contributors report little or no work after being onboarded or invited to projects: 10 accounts across 7 threads, 2026 ("I signed the SOW for both of them and got all setup on Slack, etc., but now I don't see any work.", r/Meridial), and little or no project availability for weeks to months: 12 accounts across 9 threads, 2026. Availability is not the same for everyone: some contributors report steady work while others received no tasks or communication after onboarding: 5 accounts across 4 threads, 2026. Applications and assessment submissions can stay under review for weeks to months: 5 accounts across 5 threads, 2026.

Assessment results and account status can change without explanation. Contributors report test results showing as failed in error, including tests they say they never took, with no retake: 6 accounts across 5 threads, 2026 ("Same issue and I never even gave the test", r/Meridial). Contributors also report accounts placed under review or deactivated without a clear explanation: 6 accounts across 5 threads, 2026. One wrote: "The next day, my email account was deactivated without being officialy informed." (r/AIJobs)

Outside Reddit, the picture is similar. Meridial's Trustpilot page shows a TrustScore of 1.5 from 35 reviews as of 6 November 2026 (31 of them one-star). Trustpilot reviews are self-selected, like forum posts, so we read them as a signal of where complaints sit rather than as a rate.

What we could not verify

What any individual actually earned. Forum figures vary widely and none of them can be checked, so we do not repeat them. The rates in this guide are Meridial's own published rates, taken from live listings on the date shown.

Claims about intent. Where people believe something is done deliberately, we can sometimes see the effect but never the motive, so we describe the mechanism and leave the conclusion to you.

Unpaid assessments. Individual posts describe several unpaid assessments before any project placement, but too few accounts reported it to establish it. Meridial's pages say project time is paid and do not address assessments taken before a project. Contributors say the Hubstaff timer is not used during certification or early-phase assessments: 2 accounts across 2 threads, 2026. Ask before you start one.

Why accounts are placed under review. Posts describe review emails citing a potential violation of the terms, but the threads do not show what triggered them, and we could not settle it from the corpus.

If you decide to try it

  • Have a recent proof-of-address document ready before you start: address verification is the most reported delay.
  • Expect verification to take time, and contributors report slow support replies.
  • Keep a copy of every ticket and email, with dates, from the start.
  • Treat an invitation as a possibility, not work: several contributors were invited or onboarded and then received no tasks.
  • Confirm the rate on the Statement of Work before you start, and ask whether any assessment is paid.
  • Track your own hours alongside Hubstaff, and check which timer a project's guidelines tell you to use.
  • Do not rely on Meridial as your only income while your account is new.

If you are new to this kind of work, our AI Evaluator Certification teaches the skills it involves: writing prompts, designing rubrics, grading and written justification. Meridial does not require it.

Help us keep this accurate

These platforms change constantly, and a guide that is right today can be wrong in three months. If you have worked with Meridial and something here does not match your experience, tell us with roughly when it happened, and we will update the guide and note what changed.

Meridial itself is welcome to respond: its own account of how the platform works is at www.meridial.ai/faq, and any correction it sends us will be published here with the date.

Method: 272 threads, 2,149 comments, 861 distinct accounts, January 2026 to November 2026. Read in two passes covering both Meridial's own subreddit and subreddits it does not moderate. Claims required two independent accounts in two separate threads, negative claims five accounts in three threads, quoted. Live listing data from our own job board, read on 6 November 2026.
