3.3.1 Common Citation Formats
Format 1: Inline Source Reference
Structure: [Claim] (Source Name, URL)
Example: The Eiffel Tower is 330 meters tall (Britannica, https://www.britannica.com/topic/Eiffel-Tower)
When Used:
- Most common format
- Quick verification needed
- Source directly supports specific fact
Format 2: Footnote Style
Structure: [Claim]^1
^1 Source Name, "Article Title," URL
Example: The Great Wall of China measures approximately 21,196 kilometers^1
^1 UNESCO World Heritage Centre, "The Great Wall," https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/438
When Used:
- Multiple citations in one response
- Formal evaluation contexts
- Keeps main text clean
Format 3: Author-Date
Structure: [Claim] (Author, Year)
Example: Coffee consumption increases alertness (Smith et al., 2023)
When Used:
- Academic-style platforms
- Research paper evaluations
- Scientific content
Note: May require full reference list at end.
Format 4: Direct Quote Citation
