Study Time: 50 minutes Prerequisites: Modules 1.0-4.0 Learning Objectives:

  • Budget time effectively for different task types
  • Make the most of your working time through efficiency
  • Maintain consistent quality under time pressure
  • Avoid burnout and sustain long-term productivity
  • Track and optimize personal performance
  • Identify and eliminate time wasters

Introduction

AI evaluation work rewards both quality and speed. This module teaches you to maximize productivity while maintaining the 95%+ quality target this curriculum trains to.

5.0.1 Time Budgeting by Task Type

There is no fixed time per rubric. Depending on the prompt, a rubric can have 5 criteria or hundreds, so the time a task takes scales with the rubric's size and complexity. Budget each task from two parts:

  • Roughly fixed: reading the task and experiencing the response once (for audio and video, that is at least the length of the media)
  • Scales with the rubric: building criteria, researching facts, and verifying, which grow with the number of criteria and how demanding each one is

Your own pace per criterion, logged by task type (Section 5.0.2), is the number to budget with. Where a platform gives time guidance, follow it: project guidelines are authoritative.

Text Tasks

Simple (explanation, summary, short response):

  • What drives time: the number of criteria the prompt calls for
  • Breakdown:
    • Read task + response: a few minutes
    • Build criteria: your pace per criterion × the number of criteria
    • Verify & submit

Complex (long-form, multiple components):

  • What drives time: more criteria, plus fact-checking for each claim
  • Breakdown:
    • Read task + response: longer, since there is more to read
    • Research/verify facts: grows with the number of claims
    • Build criteria: your pace per criterion × the number of criteria
    • Verify & submit

Audio Tasks

Standard (tutorial, explanation, 1-3 min audio):

  • What drives time: audio length plus the number of criteria, including audio-specific ones
  • Breakdown:
    • Read task
    • Listen to audio: at least its full length
    • Build criteria (content + audio-specific): your pace per criterion × the number of criteria
    • Verify & submit

Complex (podcast, interview, 5+ min audio):

  • What drives time: longer audio, more content to check, usually more criteria
  • Breakdown:
    • Read task
    • Listen to audio: at least its full length, plus replays to check specific moments
    • Build criteria: your pace per criterion × the number of criteria
    • Verify & submit

Video Tasks

Standard (demonstration, 1-3 min video):

  • What drives time: video length plus visual, audio and sync criteria
  • Breakdown:
    • Read task
    • Watch video: at least its full length
    • Build criteria (visual + audio + sync): your pace per criterion × the number of criteria
    • Verify & submit

Complex (tutorial with steps, 5+ min video):

  • What drives time: longer video, more steps to check, usually many more criteria
  • Breakdown:
    • Read task
    • Watch video: at least its full length, plus replays to check steps
    • Build criteria: your pace per criterion × the number of criteria
    • Verify & submit

Multimodal Tasks

Graph/Chart + Audio/Text:

  • What drives time: how much data the image holds, the output's length, and the number of criteria
  • Breakdown:
    • Read task + analyze image
    • Experience output (audio/text)
    • Build criteria (comprehension + accuracy + modality + integration): your pace per criterion × the number of criteria
    • Verify & submit
